This 5-day immersive camp introduces middle school students to the world of Python coding, robotics, and engineering through hands-on learning with programmable drones. Using beginner-friendly Python-based coding, campers will program their drones to zip around, flash lights, perform flips, and collect sensor data. As they advance, students will learn to fly their drones autonomously, navigate obstacle courses, and use sensors to interact with the environment.
Throughout the week, campers will tackle various coding challenges and exercises that demonstrate their understanding of Python and drone operation. They'll create projects that address key programming concepts like variables, loops, and conditionals. Campers will also explore gyro sensors, trimming, hovering, and essential drone movements like roll, pitch, and yaw.
From coding drones to perform precision landings to tackling real-world scenarios, this camp offers an engaging introduction to STEM concepts. Students will develop essential skills in coding, problem-solving, and teamwork in a fun, supportive environment. Whether they're beginners or have prior coding experience, this camp is designed to ignite their passion for technology and ensure a successful, exciting learning experience.
This course is thoughtfully designed by CompuChild’s expert team, which includes educators with PhD and EdD degrees and experience as children’s librarians. CompuChild is proud to be one of only two national children’s education franchises that are STEM Certified by Cognia.
