Our Intro to Basketball class is designed to provide 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders with an introduction to the game. Participants will be exposed to the fundamentals of passing, dribbling, shooting and defensive techniques through a variety of quick paced drills and games. Each session will introduce new skills, and students will have the opportunity to apply what they learn in a supportive game setting.

Get ready to move and groove with SunBollywood! In this fun movement and dance class, students will learn how to express themselves through movement and engage with a beautiful genre of dance.

Dance uplifts, unites, and empowers children. It also provides children with an opportunity to express their individuality while working on gross motor skills and developing cognitive and social skills. The teacher will guide participants through a choreographed routine and provide them with the tools to individualize the movements. ‍

Osorio Training Center will facilitate Self Defense/Boxing and Conditioning sessions as part of the Play CV After School program at Canyon Middle schools.  The sessions will help students develop athletic skills and expose them to healthy choices and behaviors. Building Worlds and Telling Stories with Pen-and-Paper Role-Playing Games

Welcome, adventurers! As players, you'll become heroes across the realms, defeating villains and ensuring peace and prosperity. As world crafters, you will be building characters, creatures, and plots that will exist in a collective fantasy world that can be played in using existing game rules.

Students will learn the basic rules of the world's most popular RPG system, Dungeons & Dragons, and play in a safe and supportive environment. Students will build creative writing skills, and get to understand the building blocks of a great story, including using the concept of the Hero's Journey.

The class is one hour long, split into two segments. In the first half hour, a coach gives a lesson on a theme, idea, motif, or classical game. Students participate by debating and attempting to find the best move in certain positions. We follow a curriculum that is tailored to the level of the class. This class will look at how chess has changed from era to era. We will be exploring games from the early 1800s to the late 1900s and discover the amazing history of this timeless game. We will learn about the heroes of chess from Paul Morphy to Bobby Fischer. We will also go over forks, pins, skewers, remove the guard, discover attacks, decoys, and sacrifices.  We cover these concepts using practical examples from the history of chess.

If you're interested in different cultures of foods? Cooking Classes With Me! would love to teach the students different ways of cooking. Students will learn the history, and who invented the dish. Students will have fun and enjoy their experience of learning how to read, measure and cook different recipes that will be educational. During the class we will have an activity of what they have learned about the recipe of the day.

Money and finance are an inevitable part of everyone's lives but we tend to delay this conversation with children until it is too late.

This fun and interactive course will introduce students with the fundamental understanding of barter system, currency, exchange rates, and factors such as interest rates that influence the interdependence between currencies. Students will learn about the differences between needs and wants, leading to a detailed understanding of factors that need to be considered for prudent goal-driven budgeting and saving. Taxes will be explained in the context of income, savings, and investments. Various active and passive sources of income including stocks, bonds, and real estate investment will be discussed. A fundamental understanding of entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial mindset will be introduced. Students will do a comprehensive final project where they will propose a framework for maximizing their future income stream.

Kids are introduced to topics from number theory, geometry, combinatorics, probability, and more with Firecracker Math!

We employ games, hands-on activities, and magic tricks to demonstrate and explore math concepts. Kids are encouraged to ask questions, present arguments, and reason. At our math classes we show your child that math can be incredibly creative, exciting, and fun.

In our Intro to Flag Football class, we’ll introduce 3rd, 4th & 5th grade students to the fundamentals of the game. Participants will focus on essential skills like catching, throwing, and defensive techniques within a non-contact game format. Participants will enhance their physical fitness and understanding of flag football rules, all within a safe and supportive team environment.

This class will introduce students to French culture and language. Students will learn French culture through cooking (crêpes or the famous “gâteau au yaourt”), history, and the arts. They will also learn some fun facts and phrases in the language--à bientôt!

Improv is about FUN (LOTS of FUN!) by using prompts to create silly stories. Unlike drama class, there's no script in improv... no memorizing lines... you just make up the dialog as you go. The funnier and sillier the better! Improv helps build creativity, teamwork, communication, and speaking skills. It brings out your playful side and helps you enjoy the moment. There are no mistakes in improv... it's just about making up silly stories and making new friends! There will be lots of jumping in feet first and DOING in my class. Whether you're an audience member or an improv player, one thing's for sure- this class is sure to be a lot of laughs!

In this immersive course, you will delve into the core principles of game design and development, leveraging the power of Processing.js—a versatile JavaScript library specifically tailored for graphics and interactive content. This course provides a hands-on and engaging introduction to the art and science of 2D game creation. No previous coding experience required.

During our two sessions together we'll build on the skills, critical thinking, and craft of reporting on what's around us. We'll learn about what news looks like through a reporter's eyes, write articles about what's important from the kid's perspective, and talk about how critical thinking and the inclusion of multiple perspectives is important to how news is created for the community. At the end, you'll have an entirely kid-created and designed newspaper. *Some lessons may be shuffled around to accommodate our printing service and layout assistance.

At the elementary school level, our young performers are gearing up for an underwater adventure like no other! We are excited to present "Nemo Kids," an adaptation of the heartwarming Disney-Pixar classic "Finding Nemo." Enroll in CAST to join the CAST of the Musical. Even if your child doesn't have prior experience in theater, we welcome all levels of interest and will accommodate everyone. We will be streamlining the process this year, and all students who are enrolled into the program will be joining the cast. During the first rehearsals, each student will be given the opportunity to audition. Prior experience is not needed, and we will send out everything needed to show us how they can shine on stage! We will review everything in person on both audition days so no stress, be sure and let your kids know they should come ready to have fun and no need to feel intimidated. We just want to see everyone do their best so we can assign roles that best fit each child.

We will be streamlining the process this year, and all students who are enrolled into the program will be joining the cast. During the first rehearsals, each student will be given the opportunity to audition. Prior experience is not needed, and we will send out everything needed to show us how they can shine on stage! We will review everything in person on both audition days so no stress, be sure and let your kids know they should come ready to have fun and no need to feel intimidated. We just want to see everyone do their best so we can assign roles that best fit each child.

This class offers a unique opportunity for individuals who are passionate about the world of musical theater but prefer to work behind the scenes rather than perform on stage. This class provides a specialized platform for students to immerse themselves in the backstage aspects of theater production. Here, participants can explore the art of set design, prop and costume creation, and take on pivotal roles such as stage managers and prop masters. It's a chance to contribute to the magic of the show from a different perspective, showcasing the diverse and essential skills required to bring a musical to life while staying behind the curtain.

PlayCV in partnership with Active Education/UK International we are providing a series of after school activities to promote active lifestyles and good sportsmanship. The activities will be multi sport based and all activities will be conducted by professional educators in a FUN, SAFE environment. Participants will be taught values such as teamwork, fair play, positive reinforcement and good sportsmanship through the activities.

Get ready to move and groove with PlayCV! In this interactive movement and dance class, kids will learn the basics of dance movement, will play fun games to learn rhythm and music and will experience different styles of creative movement and dance (ie. hip hop, creative movement, rhythm-based movement, yoga and more). Students learn to do more than just follow. They’ll learn how to express themselves through movement.

Dance uplifts, unites, and empowers children. It also provides children with an opportunity to express their individuality while working on gross motor skills and developing cognitive and social skills. The teacher will guide participants through a choreographed routine and provide them with the tools to individualize the movements.

This program will introduce the benefits of mindfulness and yoga for school children. The goals of this program include not only physical exercise but also increased emotional intelligence and tools for response. Classes will include mindful breathing practices, individual, partner, and group yoga poses, and community building exercises/games.
